On a computer, in 45 minutes, at an approved centre: here's how the civic exam actually unfolds, and the lifelong certificate you receive.

Registered for the civic exam? Here's, concretely, how the test unfolds on the day.

Before the test

The exam takes place at an approved centre (the CCI Paris Île-de-France network, designated by the Ministry of the Interior). Come with ID and your convocation.

During the test

The exam is taken on a computer. You answer 40 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes: 28 knowledge questions and 12 situational ones, across the five topics.

The result

The pass mark is 80%, i.e. 32 correct answers out of 40. If you pass, you receive a certificate valid for life: no need to retake the exam for a later procedure.

The fee

The exam is paid, generally between €70 and €90 depending on the centre. If you take one of our courses, sitting the exam at a partner centre is included and we book your seat.
